Richard Bogholtz Of Mahopac, Longtime Employee At IBM In Fishkill, Dies

A retired engineer from IBM in Fishkill, Richard Bogholtz Jr., a longtime resident of Mahopac, died Friday, Aug. 30, at age 90.

He was born in the Bronx on Nov. 5, 1928, the son of Richard and Wilhelmina (Bauman) Bogholtz.

Bogholtz served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he earned the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He was a ham radio operator and a member of the PEARL Radio Club and the Radio League.

Bogholtz retired in 1991 from IBM Corp. in Fishkill.

Following retirement, he and his wife, Ann Marie enjoyed traveling with friends and family. They especially enjoyed cruises, said the obituary.

On April 24, 1954, he married Ann Marie Wright in Manhattan. Ann Marie died on July 28, 2017. 

Bogholtz is survived by his daughter, Lois of Mahopac and his sons, Richard of Commack and Joseph of Mahopac; his grandchildren, Kim (Charles), Shannon (Michael), Lauren and Alec and his great-grandchildren, C.J., Kaeleigh, and Ashlynn. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Jeanne in 2012.

A funeral was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac.
